Hey Queen! Welcome to Lux and Pups. I have a few new faces around there, so I wanted to introduce myself as well as share a life update to those who I’ve been my virtual friends with for a while.
My name is Emely. I’m a wife & dog mom living in a suburb of Austin, TX. I’ve been in Austin since I was about 3-4 years old. It holds a special place in my heart BUT I love to travel. I’ve been traveling internationally since I was 3! It’s also a huge part of my marriage.
Up until a few years ago, I was a partner in my family’s general contracting business. I handled all their admin, accounts payable/receivables, pricing, estimates, basically EVERYTHING that goes on in the office. After about 6 years with them, it became very toxic for me. I made the decision to leave. A year before I left the company, I started Lux and Pups as a way to share my designer handbags to the purse community online.

Nontoxic skincare became a huge passion of mine around this time. A friend of mine owns a med spa where I had been getting my facials for a year. I asked of she needed help with any administrative work. She did and hired me on the spot.
Life Update
January of this year, I actually started getting more hands on with our patients at the med spa. I even took a laser hair removal class so I could start taking on my own clients. Learning about the body and how it functions is fascinating to me. I’ve always loved the medical field. This is the glam part of it which I love even more!
Unfortunately, the med spa was forced to close for two months because of COVID-19. It’s a small business and I lost the job I loved so much. It was short lived but I decided to shift my focus to Lux and Pups full time.
I was nervous about starting this journey of self employment during a pandemic. God is good to me. I was able to develop some amazing relationships with companies that align with my mission. You’ll see me share fashion from size inclusive companies, nontoxic skincare and my travels. I am also here to be vulnerable and share my struggles.
What started off as a platform to share about my handbag purchases has turned into so much more. Through Lux and Pups, I want to bring visibility to the plus size and LGBTQIA+ communities. Growing up, I never knew of a thick, femme lesbian… Well, I am here to create that space. I hope you will continue to join me on this journey.
XO, Em
