Marry Me?

Yoli and I had been dating for two years and were now living together. We had spoken about possibly getting married one day. Nothing set in stone. Just casual conversation. So in 2014, Yoli was getting ready to get baptized and receive her sacraments. I asked her if I could borrow her work laptop and I find that she had written a speech for her Baptism. Well, I start reading it because I’m so excited for her. I get to the end, and I read “Will you marry me?”. I immediately felt so bad for invading her privacy and ruining this surprise. I couldn’t believe that she would propose to me on HER special day. Well her baptism day comes and goes. Nothing, no proposal. I leave it behind me.

April 20th, 2014 – Yoli’s baptism

A few months go by and a friend of mine, Liz, invites me to have some drinks. We chose to meet up Saturday evening. My cousins happen to call me and say they would be coming into town that same Saturday and they wanted to hang out. I start feeling that maybe Yoli was going to propose. But the day arrives, we are all hanging out and nothing. I leave to go to drinks with Liz. I get a call from Yoli asking Liz to drop me off at a park afterwards. So I arrive to the park and there’s Yoli and Bruno! They were both wearing matching white and blue gingham shirts. So cute. I was excited to see them. We sit down for a bit. Yoli takes out a scrap book that I had gifted her. She said she added pages to it. I’m there taking my time looking at the pictures. I get to the last page… “Marry Me?” is what I see. I’m not kidding you when I say time stood still. Everything and everyone froze. I look up and Yoli is already almost in tears. She tries her hardest to fight through the tears and manages to ask me to be her wife. I said Yes! Of course.

This is the page in the scrap book. The picture was take after I said yes!!!

After we take a moment to ourselves, she tells me we need to leave!!! We head home. She had laid out a little black dress and a pair of Louboutins for me to change into. I change and we leave the house. I have no idea what’s going on. We arrive to a restaurant and I walk into a private room… I see our family and closest friends waiting to celebrate our engagement. Wow, I couldn’t believe it. I was the happiest girl ever! I am so thankful for my wife. I love everything she planned that day. I appreciate everything she does for us on a daily basis. I wish I could relive that moment. It was perfect. I am so happy Bruno was there to share our special moment.

Where we Yoli proposed. We came back in the steps in 2017.

The reason why she didn’t propose to me during her baptism is because before the baptism we happen to go into Tiffany and Co. While we were there, our sales associate showed us a beautiful solitaire princess cut ring. Yoli said that when she saw my face light up, she knew that was the one. So she waiting until she could purchase that ring.
