If you’re planning a trip to Austin and you haven’t stayed in the Mueller area, I am so glad you found this blog post. Even if you’re local or have visited plenty of times but haven’t explored Aldrich Street, put this on your list of thing to do. My wife and I recently had a little Valentine’s Day staycation there and we were both so surprised on how great our stay was.

If you’re looking for things to do, places to eat and stay in central Austin, I’ve got you covered. Plus, it’s just a few mins from downtown.

Where to Stay

Origin Hotel: This Austin inspired boutique hotel, does a great job of capturing the essence of the city. They have snacks and drinks from local business, bikes you can take out to explore and they are super dog friendly! Attached to the hotel is their restaurant, Blue Lacy which is a “classic diner with a Texas spin”.

Where to Eat

Alright I have a lot to say about the food on Aldrich Street, so lets dive in.

L’Oca d’Oro is a little slice of heaven on earth. The food was terrific. I told a few people I was going there for dinner and WOW, the response was the same each time. People rave about L’Oca d’Oro and I get it now. The menu changes often because they use fresh ingredients that are in season.

Next up, we popped into Rebel Cheese. This is a great place to hang out for a chill girls night or a casual date night. Grab a bottle of wine (all super affordable) and a cheese board. The cheese is so delicious… you’d never guess its all vegan! Yes, vegan. My mind was blown.

For brunch, I recommend hitting up B.D. Riley’s. Okay, if you are looking for hearty Irish food, go with the shepherds pie or the Irish stew. Don’t leave without ordering Austin’s best Guinness. Their pour is perfection. The entire restaurant actually came from Ireland and was assembled by a group of Irishmen. I also have to mention that B.D. Riley’s is a safe space for all, including queer folks. They are so welcoming and I truly can’t recommend it here enough.

What to Do

If you’re looking to do some shopping, definitely stop by Lilla & Beth. They are the cutest store on Aldrich St. From baby clothes, home decor, you’ll find plenty of things you didn’t-know-you-needed here. I came home with a pair of the coziest house slippers.

Now, if you’re looking to treat yourself, book an appointment at VIO Med Spa. You’ll be in great hands with their team of aestheticians. They offer so many wellness treatments. I’ve booked a signature facial for my mom and me, so I will definitely share more soon.

Thanks for having us Aldrich Street, I’ll seen you again soon! Our stay was hosted by Aldrich Street but all opinions are always my own.

Fun fact: Mueller is where my wife proposed to me back in 2014!
