Hotel ICON | Best Hotels in Houston, TX

A few weeks ago, my wife bought us tickets to watch a US women’s soccer in Houston. We decided to make a weekend out of it and stay the night. I began researching hotels. Since Bruno, our 11 year old husky, was staying with his cousins, I was looking for luxury, boutique style hotels. Although, Hotel ICON is pet-friendly, so we definitely could have brought him.

History

Located in downtown Houston, Hotel ICON is a stunning and very unique hotel. Originally a bank in the early 1900’s, you can still see the vault doors in the lobby. The building was vacant for about two decades before it was renovated and transformed into a hotel in 2004.

My Thoughts

Walking into the 900 sqft Junior Suite, just feels like so luxurious. From the marble counter tops in the grand bathroom to the beautiful crown molding in the bedroom, it’s all so stunning. There is a robe and a huge bathtub just waiting to be used. Sadly, our trip was so short, I didn’t get to enjoy the tub.

Everything was beautiful but what about the customer service? From the moment I got out of our vehicle, the valet kindly greeted us and were outstanding. So professional and courteous. Once I got to the front desk, we were welcomed and check-in went very smoothly. Also, the room was extremely clean.

The location is great. So many restaurants and bars surround the hotel. Overall, I would highly recommend Hotel ICON if you plan on visiting Houston or even if you’d like to treat yourself to a little staycation. Great rooms and service in downtown Houston, doesn’t get better than that. Can’t wait to visit again one day.
