Last year, Secret developed a new aluminum free deodorant. I recently picked up and put it to the test! They already had a clear gel version which I reviewed and compared to Dove’s 0 aluminum deodorant, you can read more about that here.
A Little Back Story
I stopped using antiperspirants about 5 years ago & I am always on the hunt for the best all natural deodorants. It’s a struggle to find a great all natural or aluminum free deodorant! I am here to help.

What it Claims
This new formula claims to fight odor for 48 hours, is free of aluminum, parabens, dyes & talc and will leave a smooth, clean feel. So, let’s see if this lives up to their claims.
How it Feels and Smells
When I first applied it on my skin, it definitely went on smooth and felt very clean. It’s a solid white formula but goes on clear. I have the lavender scent but it doesn’t really smell like lavender to me. Fragrance is an ingredient that I stay away from but made an exception this time. It’s very subtle which I appreciate. I recently smelled and quickly purchased the coconut scent. It smells so good! Kind of like a tropical scent. It doesn’t smell like a typical coconut scent.
Does it Control Odor
Does it fight odor for 48 hours? I don’t know. I wasn’t going to go 48 hrs without showering! I will tell you that out of all the aluminum free deodorants that I have tried, this one keeps me smelling fresh the longest. TMI, I tend to get stinky quickly but I don’t actually sweat a lot. I have tried so many. Which is the reason why it took me so long to publish this review. I would find a new one and test it out. None of them where able to keep me feeling fresh as long as this one does.
Please do a test patch when trying this or any new deodorant, especially if you have sensitive skin.
For now, this new Secret aluminum free deodorant in the coconut scent will be my new go-to, replacing the Dove 0 aluminum that I used for about a year. When testing out a new formula, remember it will take your body time to get use to it. Especially if you are switching from antiperspirant. Let me know if you know of an aluminum free deodorant that I need to out to the test.
